james
FIRST MATE AND DIVE INSTRUCTOR
James Miller was born and raised in Ontario, Canada, in the town infamously known for inventing the Hawaiian pizza. Now the mate aboard Aquacat, James began his boating career as a dive master on Blackbeard’s cruises. When not at sea he enjoys making music and taking courses to further his knowledge in the maritime industry.
James’ favourite sea creature is the oceanic white tip shark, because while ferocious, they look kind of silly.
TYRON
DIVE INSTRUCTOR
Tyron, aka Ty comes from South Africa and has been a water baby from a young age. He love for the big blue pond started at a samlle beach town called Sodwana Bay and fueled his passion for marine conservation. His favorite marine mammal is every changing- at the moment, it’s the Blue Whale for being the largest animal on earth. Hobbies include watersports and anything that gets the heart pumping as well as more peaceful endeavors like hiking and yoga.
lauro
CHEF
Lauro joins us freom Queretaro, Mexico where he completed culinary school prior to traveling extensively thru Mexico, South American and the North Americas. He claims to be a nerdy guy who likes to play games and work puzzles with numbers that make you think. His favorite good is a good taco and mole sauce which you may see on board!
Nick
DIVE INSTRUCTOR
Nick was born in Hachenburg and raised in Dar es Salaam, where he developed a global perspective and an adventurous spirit. Although he began studying hospitality management at University, he soon realized his true passion lay in the depths of the ocean. Embracing scuba diving as a career, Nick turned his love for exploration into a life dedicated to underwater adventures. Fluent in both English and German, he easily connects with people from diverse backgrounds. Having traveled through most of Europe and parts of Asia, he now feels it’s time to explore the American continent. His favorite ocean animal, the elegant thresher shark, reflects his admiration for grace and mystery in nature. When he’s not diving, Nick enjoys motorbiking and discovering new places on land.
ANNIE
DIVE INSTRUCTOR
Annie Macgregor is her real name, but around the boat, most people call her Mac or Mac Attack! She grew up in not so sunny England and thought she wanted to be an Art history major until she volunteered for a Marine Conservation base in Mexico. Once she got there and started diving, she was immediately hooked and knew that she would rather look at the beauty of the underwater world rather than be in a museum every day. She stayed in Mexico and took classes up through Divemaster rating and continued to get her instructor rating so that she could start teaching people about the ocean and all of its amazing creatures. She loves to talk about fish so ask away!
konrad
DIVE INSTRUCTOR
Funny thing about Konrad is that as a kid he was deeply afraid of water, but decided that fear would not keep him down. So over the years, he learned how to swim, row, sail and dive, ending up falling in love with the latter. So much so that after a couple of years he quit his job as a small animal veterinarian in Warsaw, Poland to become a diving instructor. He often says that those two careers are not that different, because a kind attitude and patience are important both when helping animals and teaching people.
His other passion is backpacking through mountains, jungles and beaches of Latin America, practicing Spanish while chatting with locals or just enjoying a good fantasy book in the sun.
greg
STEW AND DIVE INSTRUCTOR
Greg, from Hungari, initially embarked on a career as a civil engineer, taking him to various countries across the globe. Before his professional diving journey, he gained experience with Viking Cruises, working in various roles such as kitchen, housekeeping, and restaurant services.
It was in Croatia that Greg first discovered his passion for diving. Intrigued by the underwater world, he eventually turned his avocation into a profession in the Red Sea, becoming a certified dive instructor. His love for the ocean is epitomized by his favorite creature, the thresher shark.
JORGE
ENGINEER AND DIVE INSTRUCTOR
Jorge is from the beautiful city of Buenos Aires Argentina. Growing up he always had a love for the ocean and helping his friends work on their cars and motorcycles. He went to university for an electrical engineering degree. He then got into scuba diving and found that he loved showing people all that underwater word had to offer as an instructor. Jorge’s favorite ocean animals are stingrays and sharks. When he is not fixing on something or underwater, he loves to dance, snowboard and go climbing.
Alastair
ENGINEER
Alastair joins us from Maravel, Trinidad where he grew up. Frosty is his nickname and we’re not sure why since he is so friendly! He loves figuring out how things work and this led him to attending George Brown college where he graduated with an Electrical/Mechanical Engineering degree. When he is not fixing something, you can find him diving, trail riding or camping. His favorite ocean animal is the octopus because of their incredible ability to solve problems! Not surprising at all…
