Meet your crew for the crewed charter liveaboard Cat Ppalu.  The 4 person crew consists of a captain, dive instructor, chef and engineer.

Captain Manny Gaedechens

Captain Manny is originally from Chile and has been in the professional marine-related industry for the past 20 years. He started as a commercial diver and then in the recreational diving industry as a dive instructor in the Caribbean, Red Sea, Mediterranean, and Atlantic, to name a few places. Manny first joined us on board the Aqua Cat as Dive Instructor in the early 2000’s and later on moved to the yachting sector where he developed his career to become a Captain. He holds an MCA Master 3000gt Captain License, a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer Instructor, and Chilean Navy Commercial Diver. He speaks Spanish, English and Italian too! Captain Manny loves diving, free diving, horseback riding and a good history book.  Last but not least–he loves a good potato salad, at which he has become quite the gourmet. Manny can be found all around to make sure you have the most enjoyable and safe experience on board Cat Ppalu.

Engineer/Instructor James Miller

Born and raised in Chatham Ontario with my three sisters and brother. I moved to Toronto when I turned 19. There I spent nearly a decade playing music and occasionally touring as a drum technician. I met my wife Martyna who was an avid diver and she got me doing the same. Diving eventually took over my life and in June 2016 I got my PADI instructor certification. Two months later I started at Blackbeard’s and after four months on the sloops I moved to the Cat Ppalu.
Music is back to being my main hobby now that diving is part of my job. I like to spend my breaks back home in Toronto with my wife and band Chagall, who are all so patient with me being here. Martyna visits me often and has now started as a fill in Divemaster until she can commit to a full-time position.

Dive Instructor Martyna Miller

Martyna is from Poland, but moved to Canada in 2011. She started diving at the age of 17 and has since worked her way up to PADI Staff Instructor and Equipment Technician. She enjoys diving shipwrecks and tech diving in the cool Canadian waters.
Martyna originally studied new media art but decided the pirate life was best for her. She loves cute kitties and rock and roll. She fears no mosh pit when catching a metal show with her husband and fellow pirate James.
